Home Study (or homework) is an important part of the learning experience at Thurston Community College. It is used to practise and extend the knowledge and understanding acquired in lessons. Home Study can also inspire and engage students in all curriculum subjects. Home Study is an opportunity to develop useful study skills (including self-management and meeting deadlines) in preparation for the future challenges of GCSE study, Sixth Form and College or University.
Home Study is one of the key elements of the Home and School Partnership. It is a regular and practical opportunity for home and school to come together to support learning.
Our expectations for Home Study are carefully considered and designed to support the learning of every student. It is for this reason that we have clearly set out expectations for how Home Study tasks are communicated and clearly defined consequences for non-completion.
