Welcome to Thurston Community College!

At Thurston Community College and Thurston Sixth Form we have high expectations of our students, their conduct and achievements, and will provide an inclusive learning environment in which every individual will have the opportunity to thrive and succeed, and be empowered to make successful choices for their future.

To achieve this, we work with our wider community, colleagues in our feeder primaries and families to ensure that students joining us feel a sense of belonging and are excited about their time at the College. Beyond this, we liaise with local employers for work experience opportunities and explore Post-16 and Post-18 pathways so our young people are confident about their futures.

We provide a curriculum which enriches our students’ lives through accessing knowledge and skills which will lead to excellent academic outcomes and an understanding of the world they will live in.
Alongside our high academic expectations, students are supported through a strong pastoral care network which ensures that every young person feels safe and cared for in our College, developing confidence, self-esteem and resilience; skills needed in later life.

We provide an enrichment programme, including clubs and educational visits, which allows students to participate in a range of activities; developing skills, meeting new friends and discovering their talents. We offer students opportunities to visit significant places in the UK and further afield, to enrich their subject studies and understanding of our history and place in the world.

Joining Thurston Community College, for our young people, is the beginning of a pathway in which they play an active role in our community, mature and develop into confident young people and find their successes in learning and beyond. Through Key Stage 3, into the GCSE years and into our Sixth Form, students who choose to attend Thurston Community College and engage with our values and the experiences offered to them, thrive and succeed.
